What is the Sheriff's Advisory Foundation?
Advisory Foundation is a non-profit, Section 501(c) (3) public benefit
corporation formed to provide funding and additional support to
the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s
Department and of other law enforcement agencies in San Luis
Why do we need a Sheriff's Advisory Foundation?
Obispo County operates on a budget that must be
divided among all county services. With the continued growth of
the county, there is not enough money in the budget to provide
all of the sophisticated, costly and updated equipment and personnel
What are the Goals of the Sheriff's Advisory Foundation?
Advisory Foundation has the expressed intent of augment and supporting
county law enforcement agencies. The money given
helps support the purchases of needed equipment, training sessions,
K-9’s, scholarships, and other projects. The
Advisory Foundation has both short and long-range goals. The most
immediate goal is to expand our membership to provide the needed
funds to support law enforcement agencies in San Luis Obispo County.
A long term goal of the Advisory Foundation is to provide local
Advanced Law Enforcement Training programs for law enforcement
agencies in San Luis Obispo County. The Advisory Foundation finances
training programs presented by professional law enforcement instructors.
By providing quality training in the local area, local law enforcement
can minimize personnel time, tuition, and travel costs while
receiving the benefits of enhanced, quality training, resulting
in keeping the residents and visitors in our community in a safer
