Thirty-Six Years of Spreading Joy and Tradition on Two Wheels
On December 10th, we had the privilege of joining the Sheriff’s Honor Farm in distributing more than 200 bicycles to children throughout San Luis Obispo County. Families from across the region arrived to pick up their bikes, and the pure joy on the kids’ faces—smiles stretching ear to ear—was the true highlight of the day.
To make the celebration even sweeter, the Foundation’s Board of Directors teamed up with Golden Donuts in Pismo Beach and Mama Ganache to serve donuts and hot chocolate. Their generosity helped create a warm, welcoming atmosphere for every child who attended.
This event wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of our incredible partners: Waste Connections, the County of SLO Health Agency, Sheriff’s Honor Farm Staff, the Sheriff and Undersheriff, Bike SLO County, The Sandlot Group of San Luis Obispo, San Luis Obispo Police Department, Cal Poly Police Department, and Paso Robles Police Department. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Honor Farm incarcerated individuals who skillfully refurbished bikes in need of a little extra care and attention. Their hard work truly made a difference.
We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the generous donors whose financial contributions helped keep this beloved program running this year:
- John Vefri – $500
- Madeleine Shaw – $200
- Robert Garing – $200
- Larry Kozneck – $250
- Frances Mullan – $100
- Charles & Maureen Wiese – $250
Thanks to every partner, volunteer, and supporter, the Bike Giveaway Program continues its 36-year tradition of bringing joy, hope, and adventure to children in need across our county. Here’s to many more years of making a difference, one bike at a time.
